Sound Healing Wed to Astrology

Image
Marrying astrology to sound healing isn't new. Ted Andrews in his book, Sacred Sounds connected the notes of the Western scale with the astrological signs on a Zodiac Wheel. What I'm proposing is using planetary tuning forks (frequencies as opposed to musical notes) to unleash tension in a Natal Chart. This is just a launching point to exploring the intersection between the Natal Chart and sound healing. Let's use my Natal Chart as an example. While you can't see the lines on this Solar Return chart, it contains a Mutable T-Cross with the Saturn and the Moon in Pisces in the 2nd House opposing Uranus/Pluto in Virgo in the 8th House and Mars in Gemini in the 5th House squares everything. As you can see I'm in my 50s now and this T-Cross has provided me suffering (power struggles) and pitting myself against authority figures. So, how can I work with the flowing aspects in this chart using tuning forks? Well, one thing I could do is to apply the Jupiter tuning fork b...

From Folk-Rock Diva to Music Consciousness Researcher

Image
Glenn Gould, Wikipedia, musician that changed my life First, I would like to say even though I had some success as a former folk-rock singer-songwriter, I was never famous. And I'm okay with that given my life journey thus far which immersed me in musical traditions from around the world and awakened my consciousness. How many musicians can say that? And what I discovered was that every moment of my journey leaves me with no regrets. I followed my heart along the way--from shattered and disturbed to healthy, whole, and complete. In my teens, I fell under the trance of rock music as many teens tend to do. The lure of the rock gods drew me in and I used their songs as catharsis during that time in my life. Then in my 20s and 30s, I followed my own path to rock diva-hood, though I never quite manifested that given the amount of anger flowing through my body, mind, and spirit. But boy, could I belt out my anger when required. But at some point, after a long-drawn out illness ...

Essay: 3-PT Series--Lifting the Body's Vibration Through Sound

Image
Lifti ng Vibra tio ns (Series) The 7 Chakras I decided last night at 2:00 a.m. to write a three-part series on lifting the body’s vibration through the use of music and sound. Granted, I’m not a sound healer so if you wish to delve further into clearing chakras and balancing your aura with sound, I recommend visiting a sound healer who will teach you self-healing and balancing chants and use vibratory instruments such as tuning forks to clear stuck energy from your chakras. In the first essay of the series I will discuss the 7-chakra system of the West, the only one I’m familiar with and comfortable mentioning. It’s also the simplest to understand because it only involves 7 energy centers starting at the base of the spine (root chakra) and stopping just slightly above the head (crown chakra). The first 3 chakras refer to the material realm (root, sacral, and solar plexus), the heart and throat chakras refer to the bridge between the material and spirit realms, and the thir...

In Conversation--Marjorie de Muynck

Staying in Tune--Marjorie de Muynck Sound Healer and musician Marjorie de Muynck ( pronounced Monk) recently published Sound Healing (Vibrational Healing with Ohm Tuning Forks ). I have found this book to be user-friendly and easy to follow. The book is loaded with a wealth of vibrational and sound information and it comes with an instructional DVD. The following conversation took place via e-mail. WME: You are performing fascinating healing work with tuning forks based on musical concepts and vibration. What were the main turning points in your life that led you to exploring healing musical vibrations and working with tuning forks? MM: I’ve been fascinated with tuning forks since I was a kid. My father gave me my first tuning fork back in 1963 to tune my guitar and being an explorative child I sounded the tuning fork on my body. This was before modern tuning forks were used in this manner so it was clearly explorative. Over the last few decades there have been findings t...
