Sound Healing Wed to Astrology

Marrying astrology to sound healing isn't new. Ted Andrews in his book, Sacred Sounds connected the notes of the Western scale with the astrological signs on a Zodiac Wheel. What I'm proposing is using planetary tuning forks (frequencies as opposed to musical notes) to unleash tension in a Natal Chart. This is just a launching point to exploring the intersection between the Natal Chart and sound healing.

Let's use my Natal Chart as an example.

While you can't see the lines on this Solar Return chart, it contains a Mutable T-Cross with the Saturn and the Moon in Pisces in the 2nd House opposing Uranus/Pluto in Virgo in the 8th House and Mars in Gemini in the 5th House squares everything.

As you can see I'm in my 50s now and this T-Cross has provided me suffering (power struggles) and pitting myself against authority figures. So, how can I work with the flowing aspects in this chart using tuning forks?

Well, one thing I could do is to apply the Jupiter tuning fork because Sagittarius is the Mutable Sign not in my T-Cross. And Sagittarius falls in my 11th and 12th houses (Capricorn is also in the 12th).

This would give an outlet for the Virgo, Pisces, and Gemini tension in the chart. And when working with the 11th and 12th houses this brings up deep spirituality, yoga, meditation, dance therapy, travel, and connecting with people from other cultures, usually through spirituality or academics.

And it's true that naturally I gravitate in this direction and have found relief from the tension in my chart provided by that T-Cross. At least it's not a Grand Square!

However, having Pluto and Uranus in Virgo falling in the 8th House is still problematic. Those are two powerful planets that in this position bring abuse, control, manipulation, and insufferable family dynamics as in my case. It has also been a challenge to get my gifts and talents out to the world because of the crushing opposition which can come in the form of restrictions (Saturn in the 2nd and Pluto in the 8th), delays, and patriarchal energies.

But there is a nice sextile in the chart between the Sun/Mercury in Cancer and Uranus/Pluto in Virgo. There is also a sextile with the Sun/Mercury and Jupiter in Taurus in the 4th House (of home) and a trine with Neptune in Scorpio. And Saturn and the Moon in Pisces are not only in the T-Cross but are also in the Grand Water Trine. So, this gives me several routes with the planetary tuning forks.

The one I like best is to bring out the Sun and Mercury tuning forks because these planets are part of the Grand Water Trine along with Neptune, Saturn, and the Moon. This unlocks the energies of the Grand Water Trine but also creates flow away from the T-Cross by softening the Pluto and Uranus in Virgo energies.

I also bring in the Neptune fork to help with inspiration and spiritual pursuits, especially with having a career or a public image that is spiritually-based (Neptune is on the MC/10th House). And there are other combinations of forks I could use too. The point is to give a short example of unlocking energies in a Natal Chart using planetary tuning forks. Plus, the tones are exquisite.

An Introduction to the Planetary Tuning Forks

The other thing to remember is that each tuning fork carries its own healing gifts and themes which I'm including below. So, if a client is having issues with career or shining in public, the Sun and Mercury forks would be ideal for helping with this.

Sun--126.22 hz

Yellow, green, Leo and 5th Natal House, Solar Plexus Chakra

This fork promotes generosity, opens the heart, stimulates creativity and promotes radiance and self-expression to name a few attributes. I also think this fork brings the body strength and vitality. It is a good fork to use to boost the immune system in my humble opinion, though I am not a medical expert so use discernment.

Moon--210.42 hz

Orange, Cancer, 4th House, Sacral Chakra

This fork is said to stimulate sexual (as well as, creative) energy. It promotes a sense of well-being in the home and with family. I add that it also heightens intuition and our ability to nourish ourselves. It's a good fork, along with Venus to use for self-care.

Mercury--141.27 hz

Blue-Green, Gemini, 3rd House, Throat Chakra (and also Virgo, 6th House)

The throat is another area of self-expression and communication. Medically, it also represents the lymph glands and system, thyroid, and I like to add the mouth and ears since they are also play a role in oral communication. Mercury also traditionally rules the brain and neurological system along with Aquarius and Aries rules the physical brain, head, and face.

Venus--221.23 hz

Yellow, Orange, Libra, Taurus, 2nd and 7th Houses, Third Eye

I found it odd that Venus represents the 3rd Eye but according to the notes I have here, the Venus fork allows love to flow in. It promotes beauty and aesthetics, restores balance and boost partnership and relationships.

Earth--194.18 hz

Orange Red and is considered the center of the Zodiac. It represents the Root Chakra

I like to use this fork for grounding to the Earth plane. It works with Root Chakra concerns around safety and security. It helps with feeling supported by Gaia and by other humans, especially parental figures.

Note that the Planetary Tuning forks include 11 planets and only the first 5 forks are associated with a  chakra.

Mars--144.72 hz

Blue, Aries, First House (It has a similar affect to the Solar Plexus Chakra)

Brings us drive, focused energy, self-expression, courage, and strength of will. I like pairing the Mars tuning fork with the Venus tuning fork. I just like the way they sound together plus it blends masculine and feminine energies harmonically.

Jupiter--183.58 hz

Red, Sagittarius 9th House

I like this fork for higher learning both spiritually and academic. It's the fork that lifts us out of the gloom. Remember Sagittarius is the ruler of Jupiter, the planet of luck and adventure. It's a good fork to help us see the brighter side and to take risks that help us get out of a rut.

Saturn--147.85 hz

Blue, Capricorn, 10th House

If we are too optimistic and take too many risks, then bring in the Saturn fork. Physically, Saturn rules are connective tissue in the body (bones, muscles, tendons, and also teeth and the lower back). Saturn rules structure, rules, and authority. It also rules the mineral kingdom. Bring in Saturn to use on an unruly child or animals.

Uranus--207.36 hz

Orange, Aquarius, 11th House

According to the notes I have, Uranus..."stimulates self-discovery and self-expression, supports the process of individuation, promotes detachment and more universal perspectives."

Neptune--211.44 hz

Orange, Pisces, 12th House

Promotes dreams, imagination, creativity, expression in the performing arts and encourages spiritual transcendence. This fork helps to calm the monkey mind and is a great stone to use for meditation and before going to bed (to enhance dreams). Pair up this fork with amethyst or other astral projection gemstones.

Pluto--140.25 hz

Blue-Green, Scorpio, 8th House

According to my notes, "The Pluto tuning fork is responsible for integration into certain structures of society, supports transformation and transmutation, assists in finding one's authentic power."

Intuitively, I think the Pluto folk helps us to let go of situations that no longer serve us or to let go during the grieving process after a physical death. This tuning fork could also help with delving into the subconscious mind to pull up old beliefs. And this tuning fork would work well for a Dark Night of the Soul journey in that it lends emotional support.

Obviously, there are more applications for the planetary tuning forks. If you are a musician, sound therapist, music therapist, energy-healer, or astrologer you can use your imagination and be willing to experiment. It's going to cost you around $200 for the standard tuning forks and nearly twice that amount for the weighted forks. Make sure that you buy the ones made from aluminum alloy with accurate tuning. I purchased the Medivibe forks which you can purchase on several websites based in the US that focus on energy-healing and sound healing instruments.
