The Practice--Use Music to Enhance Daydreams

Image
Pixabay.com Many of us were told as children to stop daydreaming. I only pretended to stop. While some people find daydreaming a form of laziness or believe that people who daydream will never amount to anything, daydreaming is a form of creativity. It's how we incubate projects or even solve personal problems. True, daydreams provide an escape from challenges and harsh situations. And there is the right time and the wrong time to daydream such as we don't daydream while we drive in traffic or perform detailed work. But for us creative types, daydreaming represents a form of brainstorming. When we daydream we expand upon what we believe is possible. Daydreams also show us our heart's desires. When we combine listening to music with daydreaming we create a powerful conduit for manifestation. However, we need to listen to music that matches frequencies with our desires. So, if our desire would bring us joy, then we listen to joyful music while we engage our imaginatio...

Raise Your Music Consciousness in 2016

Image
Listen to Tibetan musician Nwang Khechog's recordings As the frequency on the planet continues to rise and more people discover the connection between sounds and their physical well-being, why not join them? Raise your consciousness through the art of listening to music. The best way to do this, and I've mentioned it already in numerous posts, is to keep a music diary or journal to track physical, mental, and emotional effects of music. Basically, any notebook or journal will work. Create three columns and write "Physical," "Emotional" and "Mental" at the top of the columns. Then on the left hand side write down the piece of music or genre you heard, location where you heard it, and time of day. Granted, since we live in a world wallpapered with music and sound frequencies, you're not going to be able to cover every soundbite you hear throughout the day or evening. However, if you are at the grocery store or mall and you notice strong r...

Global Music Consciousness in Science & Metaphysics

Image
Recently, I spoke to a woman on the bus about the rise in popularity of music therapy. I told her about brain and music studies from the last decade. The most remarkable aspect of music as medicine is that it has no side effects and if you find the right music for the condition, miracles happen. So what do we focus upon these days? I believe that we will continue with the brain-music science and that will play out in the medical community in larger ways. I doubt pharmaceutical companies will enjoy competing with sound vibration, especially purposeful sound vibration, but with fewer side effects and research to back up the healing power of music, why would we toss out this healing tool? Of course, there is the danger of companies creating formulaic music or musical formulas to heal various ailments which they'll find a way to package and market. If people find that they're getting the right results this is not a bad way to go, however, let's not lose the organic qualitie...

A Journey into Music Consciousness

Image
When I grew up surrounded by music I had no concept of consciousness. Like many people I meet these days I listened to any type of music that came my way and I melded with it. I understand staying open to diversity, however, not all music leads us on the path to wholeness and healing. My mother tells me that she played music for my siblings and me while we swam in the womb and then later during our development years. Sitting on my mother's bed, I fell into trances as music from my mother's favorite radio station drifted into the room. But I still didn't know about music consciousness. Information about music and the brain hadn't arrived yet, and no one was thinking of music as a healing balm even if we felt better listening to it while we slept in bed recovering from the flu. These days we have ample information about the brain and music, hospice care and music, as well as, healing in music. Drummers start drumming circles as a way of building community, celebrati...

The Practice--Song, Memory & Deep Psychology

Image
Photo by Patricia Herlevi In the past two years I have noticed an acceleration of healing coming from following threads of old songs deep into my subconscious mind via memory.  I have a feeling that I'm not alone on this healing journey and that many of you are encountering songs from your past with no real understanding of why those songs are coming to you now. I've explored this phenomenon through writing in my journal and other avenues such as following the threads to see where they lead.  And I have found at least two ways in which these songs return to us now so we can heal and clear old wounds.  The first way is we remember a certain song out of the blue as it just pops in our head.  Then certain feelings come up with the song which might be dread, panic or joy.  Or maybe we experience a mix of emotions that we haven't encountered in a long while because we stuffed those emotions deep into our subconscious to move forward with our lives.  These ...
